When you take good care of your shoes, they'll stay in use for a longer period. Below, we've listed the primary materials used in our shoes along with care instructions specific for each material.
GENERAL SHOE CARE TIPS
- Store your shoes in a dry place and, when necessary, allow them to air dry.
- Removing the insoles can improve the drying process.
- Give your shoes some rest of one or two days by alternating between pairs.
- Regularly maintain your shoes and seek professional cobbling when needed.
- Use cedarwood shoe trees to retain the shoe's shape, minimise creasing and help eliminate odors.
- It's advisable to have different shoes for various purposes and weather conditions.
- For example, opt for GORE-TEX shoes on rainy days and slip-resistant spike soles for icy conditions. Matching the right shoes to the environment will prolong their and your lifespan.

NAPPA LEATHER
To care for Nappa leather shoes, follow these steps:
- Start by removing larger dirt particles with a shoe brush.
- Wipe away dust and stains with a damp cloth.
- Alternatively, you can clean your shoes using Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution.
- For brown and coloured nappa leather shoes (not black nappa), including GORE-TEX® models, apply Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing robust protection against moisture and dirt.
- Collonil Waterstop is a versatile care product that can enhance colour vibrancy and deliver moisture protection for surface leather. It comes in both black (recommended for black nappa) and colourless variants. To use, apply the product to the leather and let it absorb for approximately 5 minutes. Afterward, gently brush the surface with a soft shoe brush to activate the product and achieve a brilliant shine.
- We recommend the use of shoe trees.

SUEDE
For suede shoes, follow these care instructions:
- Gently brush the shoes to remove dirt using a shoe brush.
- Wipe the shoes with a damp cloth to remove any remaining dust.
- You can also clean your suede shoes with Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution.
- Thoroughly spray the cleaning solution on the shoes, allowing the surface material to become damp.
- Allow it to sit for a moment and then gently brush it to remove stains and restore the suede's texture.
- All suede and nubuck shoes, including GORE-TEX® models, benefit from Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing excellent protection against moisture and dirt.
- Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.

NUBUCK LEATHER
To care for nubuck leather shoes, follow these steps:
- Begin by gently brushing the shoes to remove dirt using a shoe brush.
- Wipe the shoes with a damp cloth to remove dust.
- Alternatively, you can clean your nubuck leather shoes with Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution.
- Thoroughly spray the cleaning solution on the shoes, allowing the surface material to become damp.
- Allow it to sit for a moment and then gently brush it to remove stains and maintain the nubuck's texture.
- For all nubuck leather shoes, including GORE-TEX® models, use Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing excellent protection against moisture and dirt.
- Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.
- We do not advise using rubber sole shoe grips with light-coloured nubuck shoes, as the rubber may leave marks on the leather's surface.

PATENT LEATHER
For patent leather shoes, follow these care instructions:
- Clean patent leather with a damp cloth.
- You can maintain patent leather by using Collonil patent leather care product. This product keeps the material supple, preventing it from cracking, and imparts a glossy shine to the surface.
- To use the product, press the sponge provided on the bottle against the shoe's surface and pump the product into the sponge. Then, apply the product evenly to the material, making it slightly wet.
- After application, immediately wipe the surface with a dry cloth to achieve a brilliant shine.
- We recommend using shoe trees.
FELT
To care for felt shoes, follow these steps:
- Gently wipe the shoes with a damp cloth.
- You can also clean your felt shoes with Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution. Thoroughly spray the cleaning solution on the shoes, allowing the surface material to become damp.
- Allow it to sit for a moment and then gently wipe it with a cloth.
- All felt shoes, including GORE-TEX® models, can benefit from Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing excellent protection against moisture and dirt.
- Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.
- We recommend using shoe trees.
- If your felt shoes develop lint, you can remove it using an electric lint trimmer.
- Keep in mind that felt may wear down with continuous friction. For this reason, we do not recommend using felt shoes for activities such as snowshoeing, skiing, riding, or with shoe grips that might rub against the felt.

TERRACARE LEATHER
To care for Terracare leather shoes, follow these steps:
- Begin by gently brushing the shoes to remove dirt using a shoe brush.
- Wipe the shoes with a damp cloth to remove dust.
- Alternatively, you can clean your Terracare leather shoes with Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution.
- Thoroughly spray the cleaning solution on the shoes, allowing the surface material to become damp.
- Allow it to sit for a moment and then gently brush it to remove stains and maintain the leather's texture.
- For all Terracare leather shoes, including GORE-TEX® models, use Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing excellent protection against moisture and dirt.
- Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.
- Terracare leather can also be treated with Collonil leather grease, which contains genuine beeswax to keep the leather in top condition. The grease helps to minimize marks and scratches.
- Terracare leather is sensitive to scuffs. We advise against using rubber sole shoe grips with Terracare shoes, as the rubber may leave marks on the leather's surface.
Please note that care products will likely darken terracare colour. Always test the product in a less visible area first.
MICROFIBER MATERIALS
To care for shoes made from microfiber (vegan suede) materials, follow these steps:
- Gently brush the shoes to remove dirt using a shoe brush.
- Wipe the shoes with a damp cloth to remove dust.
- Alternatively, you can clean your microfiber shoes with Collonil Organic bamboo cleaning solution.
- Thoroughly spray the cleaning solution on the shoes, allowing the surface material to become damp.
- Allow it to sit for a moment and then gently brush it to remove stains and maintain the material's texture.
- All microfiber shoes, including GORE-TEX® models, can benefit from Collonil Organic Protect & Care spray. This spray contains nourishing sunflower wax that effectively maintains the material's softness while providing excellent protection against moisture and dirt.
- Apply the spray to clean, dry shoes.
- Microfiber suede can be cared for in the same way as traditional suede.

OIL & WAX LEATHER
To care for oil and wax leather shoes, follow these steps:
